Amid the “gloom and doom” of headline news, new column says “Be Happy”
April 15, 2003, Redwood City, CA: How can we be happy when faced with some of the most difficult times in US history? Inspirational author, speaker and columnist, Debbie Gisonni, says it’s just a matter a choice.
Gisonni says, “People want to have happy, peaceful lives yet most of what they read in the papers is bad news confirming a belief that life should be miserable. Why not give them another choice?”"
Gisonni believes we can create our own happiness through the conscious choices we make. She spent fifteen years in business sales, marketing and executive positions, leading and motivating teams of people through major product and company changes. After losing four family members in four years, she left her fifteen-year corporate career and started Real Life Lessons®, LLC, a company dedicated to inspiring people to embrace life’s challenges and changes (at work and at home) with a positive attitude. “My goal is to help people find their own happiness and inner peace through my writing, presentations, workshops and consulting.”
The “Be Happy” column launches twice per month via email distribution on April 15th. Several columns have been beta tested already. Each column begins with a choice that leads to happiness and ends with five ways to make that choice. In the debut test column, Choose Balance, Gisonni shared her own experience of managing a high-level executive position and a family that was falling apart. “I looked as though I had effortlessly achieved what most women strive for their entire lives – balance. But the only thing balanced about my work and life was that they both provided an equal amount of daily stress.” Other upcoming column topics will be about choosing patience, adventure, change and gratitude.
Gisonni is the author of the inspirational memoir, Vita’s Will: Real Life Lessons about Life, Death & Moving On. She will syndicate her column for publication in newspapers and magazines, and later assemble the columns into a book. “Right now, my goal is to get this information in front of as many people as possible. Happiness is, after all, very infectious!”
